Shakti Bellydance Outline


Lesson 1
Intro to history of bellydance. Various styles. Shakti personal history. Basic outline of what you will learn in 6 weeks is handed out, along with directions on bellydance circles for the head, shoulders, chest, and hips.
Lesson 2
A short review of lesson 1. This class focuses on arm formations when you dance and all moves for your hips. Hip up, hip down, hip in, hip out, hip shimmies, shoulder shimmies. Drum solo tape and choreo given out along with explanations of all the moves.
Lesson 3
A short review of all the steps learned so far. This class focuses on hand modalities, new arm sequences, clock hips, and added hip shimmies. We begin to work on drum solo.
Lesson 4
Review of all the steps. This class focuses on body language. How to add feeling to your dance with projection. New traveling steps are introduced. Work on drum solo routine.
Lesson 5
Review steps. Intro to styles of bellydance and music. New combo steps. Added drum solo choreo. Viel work for cool down.
Lesson 6
Review of all the basics. Drum solo. Costume closet tour/Dress up/Digital picture of the student.

Each class has stretch, warmup, cooldown, handouts.

Lets Bellydance

These classes are designed for students who have completed Shakti-Selene Basic Belly dance. Every 4 weeks the venue changes. We study in these weeks; Tribal, Egyptian, Turkish Bellydance styles. Each class has unique choreography with handouts that you can use to develop your own choreography and study different forms of Middle Eastern Dance.
